From NYC to Houston, I Love...

These necklaces by Jeanine Prayer caught my eye years ago while I was in New York and just the other day, I stumbled across them again here in Houston.
Each necklace has it's own inscription. From the writings of Emerson to Goethe, each tiny quote makes every single necklace unique. They are sold at Barney's New York and at Kuhl-Linscomb (another one of my new favorite places here in Houston).

Some Quotes from the necklaces above:
May the sun bring you new energy by day, May the moon softly restore you by night, May the rain wash away your worries, May the breeze blow new strength into your being, May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.-Apache blessing
Nothing is worth more than this day. -Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Laughing out loud I will create my own destiny
Singing in the wind I will forge the river
And be louder than the storm that howls about me. -Susan Stauter

All our efforts must tend towards light. -Antonio Machado

The Best Things About A Summer Rain...

1. It clears the air
2. It's a free pass for being lazy
3. It gives you an excuse to wear your wellies with shorts and dresses
4. Splashing in puddles
5. Growth, renewal
6. Even a downpour has to pass
7. Rainbows
8. At the end of a long rain, you're thankful for the sun

A new day, a new week!

Perhaps this is something to live by.

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer."

{310 Rosemont}

While working on our August issue of Houston Magazine, I stumbled into 310 Rosemont hoping to find some inspiration for a trend we're running... what I found at this chic boutique was everything my little heart could desire. 310 Rosemont carries a range of items from Joe's Jeans to vintage dresses. Yes, I have found my little heaven here in Houston.

The Heart of the Matter

I finished reading Emily Giffin's new book, The Heart of the Matter a few weeks ago.
If you are in the mood for a light read- The Heart of the Matter is perfect.
"Giffin’s talent lies in making her characters believable and relatable, and readers will be enthralled by this layered, absorbing novel.”—Booklist

Oh that hair...

Sky Ferreira's tousled blonde locks are striking. This talented 17-year old is hitting the scene with her music and her fashion.
"Wise beyond her years," she is still working out her look, but in my opinion... the sky is the limit for this girl. She hits the mark with her vintage style. Elle Magazine does a stunning job capturing the essence of her in every single way in this shoot- with an emphasis on the hair. Rock & Roll.
