Wrapped in Warmth

Harper's Bazaar, November 2010

Bobbi Brown.

I tend to wear the same make-up, pretty much all the time. But, I came across these pallets from Bobbi Brown and immediately added them to my wish list. They have great gift sets-- from the Mulit-Tasker to the Jetsetter, there is something available for all make-up tastes. Check them all out, HERE.

In love with...

Kate and Andy Spade's Apartment.

All that Sparkles...

I have a serious love for wearing rings! It actually bothers me when I'm not wearing one. I am currently lusting after these rings from Neiman's right now: MCL by Matthew Campbell (Black Sapphire,) the Marc by Marc Jacobs New Year's Ball cocktail ring, and Miriam Salat's bubble ring. There is something about the holidays and a great cocktail ring that seem to fit perfectly together.

"Growing Wings"

I bought the book, Growing Wings a few years ago for my girlfriends as Christmas presents and I loved it so much, I also bought one for myself. I found it this morning tucked away in my bookshelves and with the distinct urge to look at it, I took it down and began reading...
It was as if I was looking at it for the first time. Even though, I was drawn to it several years ago, it didn't resonate then as it does now. The book is full of illustrations by Kristen Jongen and her writing speaks to a person who is going through or who has gone through a "healing process."

As humans, I think we all go through things... and then we often carry them around. We can identify these things as our "stories," "pasts," "pains..." -- It's all the same.

"Growing Wings," is about letting go...
Letting go of the "story", letting go of the pain, and becoming vulnerable again.

Jongen's work can be found in Denver, Colorado at the Artisan Center and in many other cities. I actually didn't know that I had been looking at her artwork there for years, until today when I finally put the pieces together.
Visit online, HERE at Soul Soup if you are interested in her work!

A quote:
Most profound...was discovering that the anchor she had been clinging to so tightly also yielded the rope that bound her feet to the floor in what appeared to be a desperate loss of security....the cord was cut revealing her defining truth
She had wings...and was always intended to fly......

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I am so thankful for so many things... I can't even begin to name them all. I am very grateful to my wonderful readers and people who stumble across this blog!

If anyone is making a turkey, here is a recipe from Cooking Light that looks yummy... Of course I am not in charge of cooking any of our traditional Thanksgiving dishes-- my family would starve!

A little apartment inspiration

I Love this Brooklyn apartment.
It has the perfect mix of colors and patterns.
I keep trying to think of ways to make my apartment design a little more creative-- maybe this will serve as some inspiration.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.

For love of photography...

I have never been a great photographer. Try as I might, it seems to be a gift that I simply do not have... which is why when I come across really wonderful images I am somehow struck by them.
Kate LeSueur is a photograher here in Houston and I recently checked out her website as well as her two blogs: the.bee's.knees and Just Call Me Suzie. I love the creativity and her recipes!!

All I need to do is take cooking lessons and I'll be good to go...
But in the meantime... check out her photography website: here!!

Magic in a Bottle

Really!
Kiss My Face C The Change Ester C Serum is magic. I have been using it for a month, putting it on at night and in the morning. I never really see differences with wrinkle creams or lotions, but there is something about this serum that makes the skin look refreshed and rejuvenated. Apparently, this effect is due to the plant oils in the serum.
-Ester C actually stimulates collagen production and regenerates skin damage
-Lemongrass is refreshing skin balancer
-Rose Hips help with anti-aging

You can find the serum at Whole Foods or you can order it, Here.

{Happy} Friday!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I ran into my cousin at a party on Wednesday and we didn't know we lived in the same city! Isn't it funny when things like that happen? I felt like I was in the twilight zone when I saw him...
Anyway, We are going to get together this weekend and I can't wait!

I hope you all have a great weekend.
Much Love!

P.S. Here's a great quote, in case you missed:

A Rustic Wedding with A Vintage Feel

When I see pictures from an intimate wedding, I automatically love it. This New England wedding is whimsical and romantic with a gorgeous setting. I loved the pictures of the pies and beer!
If I ever get married, there will be plenty of pie and lots of good beer!

The photos were done by Grazier Photography- The husband and wife team offer great Green wedding packages and are willing to travel!
