Spring Trending...

I love all the white dresses and fun looks for spring. I could never wear the specs-- my face is too small!
But, they look adorable on these girls.

I am off to our bridal photo shoot today for cakes and flowers!

PS is anyone else really excited for the BIG day tomorrow?? I can't wait to see what Ms. Katherine Middleton will be wearing.

Lovely Street-Style

Mary-Kate Steinmiller has really great style. I used to see her when I lived in NYC and she was always put together and always had the best shoes!

Working out the kinks...

Happy Monday, everyone! Mondays are always a little disconnected for me. Coming back into a routine and flushing out anything that might be less than beneficial upon entering the week, is always key. I love Monday sweat sessions and getting back into a schedule. Yes, even though I work from home most of the time, I operate on a schedule (an unconventional one). I love the beginning of a new week. I love the promise that Mondays bring.

In my yoga class this morning, I felt a little rigid, but after I sweat enough to create a small pool on my mat, I immediately felt better. Sometimes, you have to work out the kinks. Nothing is perfect. Ever. And it has taken me a while to figure that out... but there is a sense of freedom in knowing that you don't have to do everything perfectly. The important thing is to keep moving, keep trying, keep going... do your best and everything else will fall into place. I have to admit that, some of this is a little inspiration from my sweet novio.

With all of that said, I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! And thanks for stopping by. : )

Happy Easter Weekend

imgaes via dress, design, decor

I love Easter. When I was younger it always meant getting a new pretty dress... now it means an excuse to eat sweets and be with friends and family and perhaps, still wear a dress...

I am in Houston over Easter, so I am missing my family, but there are some wonderful people here who make up for it.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Enjoy it!

Spring Cleaning

Happy Wednesday! Spring is a time of renewal and that feeling is sweeping through so many aspects of my life, including my closet. I spent the morning spring cleaning and it feels really good to get some organization. I like for things to look aesthetically pleasing, but I have never been great at organizing. When my parents visit they always make fun of me for thinking that my apartment is clean... when, they don't necessarily see it that way. I love my books and magazines, but strewn all throughout my apartment may be a little much? Tomorrow's project... perhaps?

Hope everyone is having a great day!

By the way, I LOVE this Brooklyn loft! There is so much light and I absolutely love the decor.

Aurelia by Charlotte Moye for Madison Australia May 2011- FGR

Inspired by Mexican culture and artist Frida Kahlo, this editorial is a story of colorful prints, sweeping dresses and sun drenched images. Louis Vuitton, Prada, Carla Zampatti were all a part of setting the stage.

I am in love with the third image! I want those boots... and the skirt... and the blouse.

Office Space

Every time I see a really great office space, I am so tempted to turn a little corner of my apartment into a place where I don't have to slouch over my computer while it balances on my knees. I know I talk about office spaces a lot, but I can't help it. The thought of having a desk sounds pretty wonderful!

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Unfortunately, I am nursing a sore throat and have a bit of work to do. Not too much play time for me this weekend... but, in two weeks I will be reunited with my best girlfriends for a bachelorette party. I CAN'T WAIT!

In the meantime, antibiotics and frozen yogurt will keep me happy!

From the Inside, Out

I love this picture taken by Scott Schuman, who you may also know as The Sartorialist.

You can tell the woman in the picture is smiling from the inside out. You can almost feel her happiness. Today, I have been thinking about experiences I've had, how every single one of them has brought me to the next. Although we can not predict the future, there is comfort in knowing that we are always learning, always evolving and hopefully opening up our hearts a little more everyday. Enjoy.

Cut off all the ropes and let me fall...

I am loving this Bon Iver song right now. "Cut off all the ropes and let me fall, right in this moment..." is such a great lyric.
One of my biggest fears in life is letting myself fall and it applies to all aspects of life really. Work, love, friendships, family...
It is terrifying to me. Yesterday in yoga, Nancy, our instructor was talking to us about allowing ourselves to fall and letting it be okay. Allowing for people to love us, take care of us, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable-- ah, it all resonated so deep within me that I left the class thinking about what it really means to fall, to lose control, and to not really know what will happen. One of the best things about life are the surprises along the way. I believe that we are always exactly where we are supposed to be in this moment in time, because no matter how hard you try to plan out your life, it never goes the way we think it will and that's the fun part. Right? Perhaps, just say yes.

P.S. I first listened to this song on Anna, from Tulip Louise's website. It was the song to her wedding video. Adorable.

Monday Inspiration...

Happy Monday! Around this time of year, I always start to miss India... I went there two years ago and I miss it all the time. The colors, the people, the smell of thyme, the mountains... Since I can't travel there now, I thought a little collection of images would suffice.

Hello, Friday

I hope everyone is enjoying the day! Sorry for the no post yesterday, the day got a little crazy and slipped away from me.
This weekend will be spent doing a little bit of work, but I think I will also manage to relax and have fun too.

I hope all of you get to do a little relaxing and unwinding this weekend!

Jeans and a Tee

When I don't feel like wearing a dress or putting together an outfit, I always tend to opt for jeans and a t-shirt.
Worn the right way, with a cute pair of flats, perhaps? You can make a relatively boring outfit into a chic, breezy, go-to look.

An Afternoon Yoga Class

For some reason, yesterday I decided it would be a good idea to try yoga. After the half marathon a couple of weeks ago, I have been trying to take a break from running, but I have to do something, so I figured yoga might be a nice compliment to pounding pavement? I have taken yoga classes before, but I have never been able to find one that wasn't so intense I felt awkward as a beginner, or one that felt incredibly slow. Needless to say, I am not a yogi and have never taken a liking to a class, until now.

I am not even completely sure how I stumbled across Yoga Ananda. I was looking through the internet and everyone that had seemed to have taken a class there, loved it, so I thought, why not? I called the studio and they told me to come on in. At first I couldn't find the place, it had a little sign in the front yard that I saw only after I had spotted a girl with a yoga mat. When I walked in, I immediately felt like I had found something so special in this big city of Houston. You know that saying, "You are exactly where you are supposed to be," well that was just it, I was exactly where I was supposed to be: in a hot yoga room, with 14 wonderful strangers and a teacher who guided us not only through poses, but through our own journey back to the heart. I know that may sound cheesy, hippy or yogi-like, but it is the only way to describe it.

She spoke a lot about letting go of what we think should happen; what we think we should be. She talked about letting go of the judgments we place on ourselves and also on others. I tend to be extremely hard on myself, so as I sat there sweating, I felt something shift when she was saying all of this.

She read to us from a book at the end, and afterward I went home to see if I could find it. I am pretty sure it was one from Melody Beattie... Anyway, I found this excerpt and thought I would share it with all of you.

Honor the Beginning

Beginnings can be delicate or explosive. They can start almost invisibly or arrive with a big bang. Beginnings hold the promise of new lessons to be learned, new territory to be explored, and old lessons to be recalled, practiced, and appreciated. Beginnings hold ambiguity, fear, and hope. Don't let the lessons, the experiences from the past, dampen your enthusiasm for beginnings. Just because it's been hard doesn't mean it will always be difficult. Don't let the heartbreaks of the past cause you to become cynical, close you off to life's magic and promise. Open yourself wide to all that the universe has to say.
Let yourself begin anew. Pack your bags. Choose carefully what you bring, because packing is an important ritual. Take along some humility and the lessons of the past. Toss in some curiosity and excitement about what you haven't yet learned. Say your good-byes to those you're leaving behind. Don't worry who you will meet or where you will go. The way has been prepared. The people you are to meet will be expecting you. A new journey has begun. Let it be magical. Let it unfold.

Go where your heart leads you. Your soul knows the way. It will speak quietly through the voice of your heart, your wisdom, your intuition. Listen to the voice within, that assures you you're safe. You will meet and learn from everyone you need to along the way. Don't limit your own experiences. Don't limit those experiences of those you love, or those you meet along the way.
--

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Enjoy every step!
Sorry for the extra long post, I just had to share with all of you!

If you live in Houston, Yoga Ananda is located on 1822 West Alabama.
I literally can not wait to go back!
